Context:
Recently, the transfer of three indigenous technologies viz. Thermal Cameras, CMOS Cameras, and Fleet Management Systems transferred to industries under the InTranSE Program at the event of the “Digital India Future LABS Summit 2024”.
- These technologies were developed by CDAC Thiruvananthapuram under the Intelligent Transportation System Endeavor (InTranSE) Program.
About InTranSE Program:
- It stands for ‘Intelligent Transportation System Endeavor’ Program which is initiated by the Ministry of Electronics & IT.
- Objective: To drive transformation in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) by uniting premier academic institutes such as IIT, IISc, and IIM, along with leading R&D centers like C-DAC, under a single umbrella.
It witnessed collaborative efforts from IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIM Calcutta, and C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram.
- They jointly developed, implemented, demonstrated, and transferred knowledge about ITS products and solutions.
Significance:
- It aims to enhance traffic efficiency by mitigating traffic issues, optimizing infrastructure utilization, providing users with advanced traffic information, reducing travel time, and elevating the safety and comfort of commuters.
- The transfer of indigenous technologies during the Digital India Future LABS Summit 2024 is a testament to the program’s ongoing success in fostering innovation and progress in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems.
