  • The Ministry of Culture has announced a groundbreaking partnership with France Museums Développement (FMD) to develop the Yuga Yugeen Bharat National Museum into a world-class cultural institution.
  • The project is part of the Central Vista Redevelopment Initiative and will span approximately 1.55 lakh sq. meters.
  • India and France will work together on a feasibility study, including museum case studies, planning, and building design.
  • The project will be carried out in two phases. The first phase involves retrofitting the North Block into a museum, with a target completion date of June 2026.

Central Vista Project

  • The Central Vista complex serves as the center of the nation’s administration, housing essential facilities that ensure the efficient functioning of the Government of India.
  • It was inaugurated in 1931 and includes the Rashtrapati Bhavan, North and South Blocks, Parliament House, the National Archives, India Gate, and the civic gardens along the Rajpath.
