Context: The International Film City in Uttar Pradesh, envisioned by CM Yogi Adityanath, has its detailed plan submitted by Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

  • The project will be North India’s largest film city, spread over 1,000 acres in Sector-21, Greater Noida, near the Yamuna Expressway.
  • The plan will be reviewed by YEIDA and construction work will begin after giving the necessary approvals.
  • The first phase will begin on 230 acres of land, with an projected cost of ₹1,510 crore.
  • On January 30, 2025 the master plan of the Film City was approved.
  • The Film City project will be executed in three phases over the next eight years. The first phase will cover
    • 155 acres allocated for core infrastructure, including film studios, sound stages, post-production units, and a film institute.
    • 75 acres set aside for a commercial center featuring retail spaces, offices, and entertainment complexes, which will only begin development after the completion of the film-related facilities.
  • The development is expected to create around 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh’s economy.
  • Key features  of the upcoming International Film City :
    • A grand convention center with a seating capacity of 10,000, designed to host major film events and ceremonies.
    • A museum dedicated to the legacy of Indian cinema.
    • A designated film festival area featuring an auditorium and guest house.
    • Separate accommodation facilities for artists.
    • Small studio units, inspired by diverse Indian architectural styles, available for rent as shooting locations or lodging.
    • Large sound stages, including a unique underwater shooting studio.
