Context:
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister announced an increase in the annual income limit for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, raising it from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh to enhance the scheme’s benefits.

- Acknowledging the importance of inclusivity, the CM emphasized that the mass marriage scheme has been a vital support for the underprivileged, and to extend its benefits to more individuals, the annual income limit for eligibility will be raised.
- During a review meeting of the Social Welfare Department, the CM announced that, starting from the new financial year, the financial assistance for eligible newlyweds under the scheme will be increased from ₹51,000 to ₹1 lakh.
- Of the total amount, it will be disbursed as:
- ₹60,000 will be directly credited to the bride’s bank account.
- ₹25,000 will be provided as gifts to the newlyweds.
- ₹15,000 will be allocated for wedding ceremony expenses.
- The UP government has launched to assist the daughters of economically weaker families in the state with their marriages, as well as to support the remarriage of widows and divorced women.
- Eligibility
- Age- The age of the applicant girl/woman should be 18 years or more and the age of the groom should be 21 years or more
- Category- SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority
- Domicile- The applicant must be a native of Uttar Pradesh
- Special Criteria-
- The benefit of this scheme will be given to those girls whose marriage has been fixed and who have not been married before
- Women who are legally divorced are also eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme
- Widows are also eligible to take benefit of this scheme
