Context:

The state government is developing a 17-kilometre nature walk pathway along the Yamuna River from Vrindavan to Gokul, with an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore.

  • This project, to be executed by the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad in collaboration with the State Forest and Wildlife Department.
  • The initiative aims to promote eco-tourism, support environmental conservation, and provide pilgrims and tourists with a serene and accessible walking route along the river.
  •  A two-metre-wide pathway will be built along the Yamuna River, connecting Vrindavan to Gokul.  
  • Indigenous plant species will be planted along both sides of the walkway to boost greenery and preserve local biodiversity.
  • The path will also be equipped with fencing, lighting, and toilet facilities to ensure comfort and safety for tourists and residents alike.
  • The primary goal of the Vrindavan-Gokul Nature Walk Pathway is to promote eco-tourism in the region.
  • The initiative is part of the broader Mathura Vision 2030 development plan, which encompasses 195 projects valued at ₹30,080 crore, with 23 projects worth ₹2,300 crore already approved.
  •  Pilgrims and tourists will now have the opportunity to experience the natural serenity of this sacred site on foot, surrounded by lush greenery and the tranquil atmosphere along the banks of the Yamuna.
