Context:
President of India will officially inaugurate the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur on July 1, 2025.

- The university has unified all Ayurveda, Unani, and Homoeopathy colleges in the state under a single regulatory framework.
- The foundation of the university was laid on August 28, 2021, by then-President Ram Nath Kovind, responding to an invitation from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
- The university is located on a 52-acre campus in Pipri, Bhathat, about 25 kilometres from the Gorakhpur district headquarters.
- The university is affiliated with 98 AYUSH colleges throughout the state, comprising 76 Ayurveda, 10 Unani, and 12 Homoeopathy colleges.
- The establishment of Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University has unified their regulation under a single system.
- The university has been operational since the 2021-22 academic session and currently oversees examinations and academic activities for the following programs: BAMS, MD, and MS in Ayurveda; BUMS, MD, and MS in Unani; and BHMS and MD in Homoeopathy.
- The university is preparing a plan to initiate academic and treatment activities in additional disciplines such as Yoga, Naturopathy, Siddha, and Sowa-Rigpa in the near future.
- The Chief Minister introduced the idea of the state’s first AYUSH university following the central government’s classification of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy under the AYUSH category.
