The Uttar Pradesh government will enhance its computer training scheme by introducing modern, employment-oriented courses such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), drone technology, and cybersecurity to empower educated but unemployed OBC youth.

- The rollout of this revamped training initiative is planned for the financial year 2025-26.
- This initiative aims to strengthen technical skills, improve employability, and foster innovation across key sectors such as startups, security, agriculture, education, and administration.
- Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare and Disabled Empowerment highlighted that the UP government remains dedicated to inclusive development by ensuring the active participation of all sections of society.
- As part of this commitment, the free technical training for OBC youth will now feature advanced and industry-relevant courses.
- The new framework involves a complete overhaul of the existing training curriculum, which had primarily focused on O-Level and CCC courses, by incorporating advanced, industry-relevant modules and upgrading the expertise of trainers.
- Training institutes will be newly empanelled to align with the updated requirements.
- To ensure transparency and authenticity, physical verification of beneficiaries has been made mandatory. Furthermore, a robust monitoring and feedback mechanism is being established to oversee the scheme’s progress and implementation.
- During the financial year 2024–25, the scheme provided training to 29,769 youths, with the government incurring an expenditure of ₹32.92 crore.
