Context:
The UP government will install solar rooftop plants with twice the capacity on the rooftops of houses, under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.
More On News:

- Currently, around 11 thousand installations are being carried out every month, with more than 500 installations taking place daily.
- In the financial year 2025-26, a total of 2.65 lakh plants will be installed. For this, 22 thousand solar power plants will be set up every month, and on average, 300 solar power plants will be installed in each district.
- The government has set a target of installing a total of 8 lakh solar rooftop plants in Uttar Pradesh by March 2027.
- Targets have been assigned at the district and discom levels, as well as at the municipal corporation and municipality levels.
- The scheme has been integrated with the Chief Minister’s dashboard to enable real-time monitoring and tracking of its progress.
- UPNEDA (Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Department Agency) is working with full commitment to bring the PM Surya Ghar Yojana to every household.
- Vendors are being listed by contacting applicants based on the 10.73 lakh applications received on the portal till March 2025.
- For the implementation of the scheme, over 2500 vendors have been empanelled by April 2025, and training has been provided to around 1800 vendors.
- Additionally, vendors are being provided the benefits of loan and credit guarantee schemes through banks to strengthen their financial capacity.
- With the support of the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business, the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India, and UPNEDA, vendors are being trained in a phased manner.
