UP government has collaborated with leading organizations, companies, and institutions renowned for their expertise in the AI/IT sector, including Microsoft, Intel, Guvi (HCL), Wadhvani, and 1M1B.

  • These companies will assist in creating course materials, conducting workshops, providing technical resources, and overseeing the implementation of the program to train 10 lakh people across the state in AI by the end of 2025.
  • It aims to create new job opportunities and improve the state’s administrative structure, along with enhancing sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and others.
  • A government order (GO) to this effect was issued on April 24, 2025, by the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary to various additional chief secretaries/principal secretaries, divisional commissioners and district magistrates across the state.
  • With this initiative, U.P. aims to become a leading state in AI and data science, driving technological advancements in both urban and rural areas.
  • According to GO, the goal is to promote digital literacy and skill development, enabling youth to access employment opportunities and ensuring AI is effectively applied across various sectors of the state.
  • This program will target state government employees and citizens interested in gaining skills for the AI field, including government workers, teachers, doctors, students, professionals, rural citizens, and anyone eager to learn new skills.
    • Priority will be given to the youth in both rural and urban areas to ensure comprehensive development.
    • The training program will primarily focus on state government employees, equipping them with foundational AI and digital literacy skills to effectively integrate technology into administrative tasks.
    • Teachers and students from schools, colleges, and universities will also receive AI training to prepare them for future job opportunities.
    • Healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other workers, will be trained to enhance the health sector, while both technical and non-technical professionals will learn how to leverage AI in their respective fields.
    • Specialized training programs will also be developed to address the needs of agriculture, rural enterprises, and other rural sectors.
  • The state government will seek financial and institutional support for this training program from private companies, NGOs, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
  • A committee will be established at the state level, chaired by the chief secretary, to monitor progress and address any issues. A progress report will be submitted monthly.
