
Amendments to Semiconductor Policy 2024

- Fiscal Incentives: Under the new approval, semiconductor units will be eligible for interest subsidy, exemption in net SGST for a period of 10 years.
- Employment-Linked Incentives: 100 per cent reimbursement of EPF (employees’ provident fund) contributions for Uttar Pradesh-based professionals, capped at Rs 2,000 per month would also be provided.
- Utility & Infrastructure Support: Units will also be eligible for power tariff subsidy of up to Rs 2 per unit for 10 years along with concessions in water charges.
Other major Approved Proposals during Cabinet Meeting:
- Amendments to the recruitment process for regional sports officers: Of 18 sanctioned posts, two-thirds (12 posts) will now be filled through promotion and one-third (6 posts) through international medal-winning athletes from the Olympics, Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games.
- The decision aims at balancing administrative experience with sporting excellence.
- Establishment of a campus of the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, in Varanasi: It aims to strengthen education and technical capacity in forensic science, cybercrime and criminal investigation in the state.
- Establishment of a multi-super speciality hospital in Varanasi: The Centre will bear 60% of the cost for setting up a 500-bed hospital, while the State will contribute the rest.
