Context: Recently, The Ministry of Railways introduced the SuperApp ‘SwaRail’, a one-stop solution offering inclusive railway services to the public.
- The App aims to enhance user experience with a seamless and clean user interface (UI).
- It integrates different railway services, eliminating the need for multiple applications and reducing space consumption on user devices.
- It is developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) the SuperApp.
- It integrates all public-facing applications of Indian Railways into a single platform.
About the SuperApp
- It is a one-stop solution offering multiple public-facing services of Indian Railways, including Reserved and Unreserved Ticket Booking, Platform and Parcel Booking, Train and PNR Enquiries, and Help through Rail Madad.
- It allows users to onboard using their existing RailConnect or UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) on Mobile credentials.
- On first login, an R-Wallet is created for every user to facilitate ticket bookings and existing R-Wallets from the UTS on the Mobile App are automatically linked.
- The App also provides a secure and convenient login option using a numeric m-PIN for inquiries, users can log in as Guests via mobile number/OTP.
Features of the SuperApp
- Single Sign-On – Users will be able to access all services using a single set of credentials across existing Indian Railways apps like IRCTC RailConnect, UTS Mobile App, etc.
- All-in-One App – All services like reserved and unreserved booking Currently, to check train movement and schedules will be accessible through a unified app.
- Integrated Services – Services are being integrated to deliver comprehensive information from multiple sources in a cohesive and unified manner. For example, PNR enquiry will also display associated train information.
- Easy Onboarding/Sign-Up – It has been simplified to enhance the user experience and make the app easily accessible now users can onboard the SuperApp using their existing RailConnect or UTS App credentials.
- Ease of Login – The app offers multiple login options, allowing access via m-PIN or biometric authentication after the initial login.
