Context: The Uttar Pradesh government has made a significant advancement in upgrading non-government-aided secondary Sanskrit schools under Project Alankaar.

- As part of this initiative, 11 Sanskrit schools in 7 districts of Uttar Pradesh will undergo construction of new classrooms, renovations, and the development of modern facilities, including science labs, smart classrooms, and enhanced infrastructure.
- The project seeks to offer students an improved educational environment while promoting Sanskrit education and preserving India’s rich knowledge traditions.
- The government has allocated a budget of Rs 100 crore for the modernization of non-government-aided Sanskrit schools in the 2024-25 financial year.

- Under Project Alankaar, several Sanskrit schools with a minimum enrollment of 100 students will receive new classroom construction, boundary wall development, and enhanced sanitation facilities.
- The 11 aided Sanskrit schools in Uttar Pradesh, located in Deoria (1), Ayodhya (2), Gautam Buddh Nagar (1), Varanasi (5), Azamgarh (1), and Shahjahanpur (1), will undergo significant upgrades, including the construction and renovation of classrooms, along with the development of modern facilities.
- A key feature of this initiative is that the state government will bear 95% of the renovation costs, with the remaining 5% to be covered by the respective school management.
