Manipur

  • Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been appointed as the new Governor of Manipur, replacing Anusuiya Uikey.
  • He takes charge amid rising violence and a deepening ethnic conflict in the state over a year between the Meitei community and Kuki tribes since May 2023.
  • He was former Union Home Secretary and was among the only two longest-serving Union Home Secretaries who remained in office for more than five years.

Bihar

  • Arif Mohammed Khan was the governor of Kerala, has been reassigned to Bihar.
  • He has become Bihar’s first Muslim Governor after 26 years after AR Kidwai served in the post from August 1993 to April 1998.

Kerala

  • Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the Governor of Bihar, has been reassigned to Kerala.
  • He was also former Governorof Himachal Pradesh.

Odisha

  • Hari Babu Kambhampati, was the Governor of Mizoram, now been reassigned to Odisha.
  • He replaces Governor Raghubar Das.

Mizoram

  • General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh, a retired officer, now will serve as the Governor of Mizoram.
  • He served as the 24th chief of staff in the Indian Army (2010-12).
  • In 2015, he headed ‘Operation Raahat’ for evacuation of Indian citizens and other foreign nationals from war-torn Yemen.
  • In 2016, he led ‘Operation Sankat Mochan’ to rescue Indians from South Sudan.
  • In 2018, he led efforts to locate missing Indian workers in Iraq, at a time the country was fighting ISIS.
