It will pass through four districts of the Gorakhpur-Basti division with length approximately 86 kilometers.

Earlier, the expressway was decided to end till Shamli, but now it is being extended till Panipat in Haryana.
From Gorakhpur, it will also be connected to the Siliguri Expressway, which will create a new road network of North India.
About Panipat Gorakhpur Expressway
Objective: It aims to revolutionize connectivity between eastern Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Design parameters: The total length of this expressway will be approximately 750 kilometers.
It will be a 4- to 6-lane high-speed corridor, expandable up to 8 lanes in the future.
The estimated cost of this mega project is approximately ₹15,000 crore.
Coverage in UP: The expressway will begin in Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, cross western Uttar Pradesh and through Shamli it will reach to Panipat in Haryana,
This will directly connect around 21 districts in Uttar Pradesh.
Significance: This expressway will speed up freight movement, significantly reduce logistics costs, and boost economic and industrial development across the region.
Seamless labour connectivity: This expressway will help facilitate employment opportunities for labourers from Uttar Pradesh in Panipat, which hosts more than 4,000 industrial units, including those in textiles, agro-based industries, wood and furniture manufacturing, and paper production.
