Context:
Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized that India’s transformation is built on five pillars, these five resolves, or PanchPran, strengthen the nation’s spirit of nationalism.
About PanchPran
- The 15th August 2023 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav seeks to reinforce the people’s movement by focusing on key cultural and social development areas.
- The PanchPran framework is centered around five core principles, each addressing different aspects of India’s growth:
Pran 1: Developed India
- Women and Children: Investing in child development is the key to building a better future for any nation. The values, education, and health of children directly influence the social and economic indicators of countries and also shape their global standing. Hence, it is vital that children have access to civic, social, and moral education.
- Inclusive Development: Inclusive development promotes fair opportunities for all, regardless of social and financial standing, with advantages accruing to every segment of society.
- Health and Wellness: The healthcare sector comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, medical tourism, health insurance, and medical equipment. Health is often decoded through the lens of preventive care and curative actions for illness.
- Tribal Empowerment: Tribal communities have played a key role in preserving India’s culture and contributing to the freedom struggle. Empowering them is crucial for the nation’s progress.
Pran 2: Remove Colonial Mindset
- Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan or self-reliant India campaign is the vision of a new India envisaged by the Prime Minister. The PM raised a clarion call to the nation giving a kick start to the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan (self-reliant India campaign) and announced the special economic and comprehensive package of INR 20 lakh crores – equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP
Pran 3: Take Pride in Our Roots
- Cultural Pride: India is a land of many cultures, it is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, dating back more than 4,000 years. During this time, many customs and traditions have come together, reflecting the country’s rich culture and heritage.
Pran 4: Unity
- Unity in Diversity: India is a land of diversity. From north to south, east to west, the nation inhibits an array of cultures, rituals, languages, food, attires, festivals and more. This is why ‘Unity’ is one of the panch prans. With these common goals in mind, we shall move forward together as a more unified union, towards the coveted 100 years of freedom!
Pran 5: Sense of Duty in Citizens
- Water: Water is a life-sustaining natural resource. However, the availability of water resources is limited and distributed unevenly, making many vulnerable to lack of it.
- Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE): On the occasion of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP26), the Prime Minister introduced the mission of “LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment)” to engage individuals in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
Conclusion: Through these five principles, India aims to foster national growth, unity, and self-reliance, ensuring a bright and sustainable future.
