- Recently, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has announced the nomination process for the National Gopal Ratna Award 2024.
- The awards will be presented on National Milk Day, November 26, under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission.
Award Categories and Special Recognition
- This year’s National Gopal Ratna Award includes the following categories:
- Best Dairy Farmer Rearing Indigenous Cattle/Buffalo Breeds
- Best Dairy Cooperative Society (DCS)/Milk Producer Company (MPC)/Dairy Farmer Producer Organization (FPO)
- Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT)
- From this year onward, a special award for the North Eastern Region (NER) States has been incorporated to encourage and boost the dairy development activities in North Eastern Region (NER).
- Thus, the NGRA 2024 will conferred to 1st,, 2nd, 3rd and one Special Award for North Eastern Region(NER) States in each three categories as mentioned above.
Award Details for 2024
- NGRA 2024 will consist of a Certificate of merit, a memento and a monetary prize in the first two categories i.e. Best Dairy Farmer and Best DCS/FPO/MPCs.
- 1st Rank: Rs. 5,00,000/
- 2nd Rank: Rs. 3,00,000/
- 3rd Rank: Rs. 2,00,000/
- Special Award for NER: Rs. 2,00,000/
- In the Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT) category, the award will consist of a Certificate of merit and a memento only. No cash prize will be provided in Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT) Category.
About the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM)
- The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying launched this mission in December 2014.
- It aims to conserve and scientifically develop indigenous bovine breeds.
- The scheme is important in enhancing milk production and productivity of bovines and making dairying more remunerative to the rural farmers of the country.
- Since 2021, under this mission, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has been conferring National Gopal Ratna Award annually to encourage milk-producing farmers, dairy cooperative societies/MPCs/FPOs, and Artificial Insemination Technicians (AITs).
