  • The event saw the plantation of various species of fruit-bearing, shade-giving, and medicinal plants under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign.
  • Uttar Pradesh has planted more than 370 million saplings across 5,89,705 plantation sites in 18 divisions in a single day as part of its Mega Plantation Drive 2025.
  • Key ministers participated in the campaign across various districts, including the Chief Minister in Ayodhya and the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, who took part in the event in Meerut.
  • The plantation drive began with geo-tagging of all 5,89,705 plantation sites across 18 divisions in the state.
  • Photographs were taken at each site and submitted to the central command centre for monitoring.
  • As part of this large-scale initiative, a total of 52.43 crore saplings were cultivated in nurseries across the state, with this year’s target increased by an additional two crore to further strengthen our efforts.
  • The plantation drive has significantly impacted the state’s ecology, leading to an increase in green cover as well as improvements in other environmental indicators.
  • According to the State of Forest Report by the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India’s forest carbon stock increased by 1.13% between 2021 and 2023, while Uttar Pradesh recorded a higher rise of 2.46% during the same period.
