The annual programme seeks to strengthen the long-standing civilisational ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, two of India’s oldest centres of spiritual and literary heritage.
The first phase of KTS 4.0 is to be organised from December 2 to 15, 2025, in Varanasi (Kashi), followed by the second phase from December 15 to 31, 2025, in Tamil Nadu.

Theme of the event: Let us learn Tamil- Tamil karkalaam aims to promote Tamil language and culture to other parts of the country.
This year’s event is significant as it coincides with Karthigai Deepam, one of Tamil Nadu’s most auspicious festivals, on December 4,2025.
Karthigai Deepam is celebrated to honour divine light, cosmic order, and spiritual protection, a beautiful blend of mythology, devotion, and culture.

“Tamil Karkalam” – Tamil Teaching in Uttar Pradesh
50 Tamil teachers to conduct classes in 50 Varanasi schools (2–15 Dec 2025).
Training by CICT; academic support from BHU Tamil Dept., CIIL Mysuru, IRCTC, and Varanasi administration.
1,500 students to learn basic spoken Tamil, pronunciation and script.
Expands Tamil learning beyond Tamil Nadu and promotes linguistic inclusivity.
“Tamil Karpom” – Study Tours for Kashi Students
300 college students to visit Tamil Nadu in 10 batches.
Orientation at CICT Chennai; Tamil learning sessions at IIT Madras, Pondicherry University, Gandhigram Rural Institute, Shastra University, etc.
Exposure to sites linked to the Kashi–Tamil cultural continuum; certificates awarded.
SAVE Expedition – Sage Agastya Vehicle Expedition
Retraces the historical route associated with Sage Agastya to showcase south–north civilisational linkages.
Route: Tenkasi (2 Dec) → Kashi (10 Dec 2025).
Highlights cultural connections across Chera, Chola, Pandya, Pallava, Chalukya, Vijayanagara periods.
Valedictory Function: Scheduled to be held at Rameswaram, symbolically completing the cultural arc from Kashi to Tamil Nadu.
