Context:

Recently, the Indian Armed Forces conducted Joint Military Exercises AGNI WARRIOR (XAW-2024) with Singapore and HARIMAU SHAKTI with Malaysia.

Exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI (India-Malaysia)

  • Location: Bentong Camp, Pahang District, Malaysia 
  • Participating Forces:
    • India: 78 personnel from the MAHAR Regiment
    • Malaysia: 123 personnel from The Royal Malaysian Regiment
  • Objective:
    • Enhance joint military capability for counter-insurgency operations in jungle terrain under the UN Chapter VII mandate.
    • Share best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for joint operations.
  • Phases:
    • Phase 1: Cross-training, lectures, demonstrations, and drills in jungle terrain.
    • Phase 2: Simulated exercise involving Anti-MT Ambush, Recce Patrol, Occupation of Harbour, and attacks on terrorist-occupied areas.
  • Goals:
    • Improve interoperability, camaraderie, and cooperation between both armies.
    • Strengthen bilateral relations and defence cooperation.

Exercise AGNI WARRIOR (India-Singapore)

  • Location: Field Firing Ranges, Devlali, Maharashtra
  • Participating Forces:
    • India: 114 personnel from the Regiment of Artillery
    • Singapore: 182 personnel from the Singapore Artillery
  • Objective:
    • Maximise mutual understanding of drills and procedures for joint operations under the UN Charter.
    • Showcase joint firepower planning, execution, and the use of new-generation artillery equipment.
  • Key Highlights:
    • Joint preparation, coordination, and understanding of each other’s capabilities.
    • Utilised advanced technologies and exchanged best practices in artillery firepower planning.
