Context:
The foundation stone of India’s first green data centre was laid in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology.

- The CEL-ESDS Green Data Centre is being established by Central Electronics Limited (CEL).
- It aims to generate 20,000 megawatts of renewable energy by 2027, with the public sector undertaking (PSU), a Mini Ratna company, playing a key role in the initiative.
- The Green Data Centre is designed to be energy-efficient, fully secure, and adaptable to future needs.
- CEL, in collaboration with ESDS, is implementing state-of-the-art cloud and data centre solutions, underpinned by a strong commitment to sustainability.
- The centre will be equipped with modular PODs, intelligent cooling systems, reflective roofing, rainwater harvesting, and support for multiple ISPs.
- It is designed to have a total capacity of 30 MW and can accommodate up to 200 racks on each floor.
