Recently, the 12th edition of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting between India and the UAE took place in Abu Dhabi.

  • India-UAE both sides explored numerous opportunities for collaboration to enhance defence and security cooperation. 
  • Detailed discussions covered areas such as Training, Joint military exercises, Defence industrial cooperation, Subject matter expert exchange, Research and Development (R&D).

Regional Security and Collaboration:

  • Both sides reviewed the regional security situation, including maritime security, and emphasized the need for increased collaboration to address security challenges.
  • They discussed the importance of exchanging visits across different domains to benefit from each other’s experience and knowledge. 
  • The mutual exchange of training opportunities in specialized areas was also agreed upon.

About the India-UAE Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC)

  • The JDCC is a key platform for fostering defence ties between India and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Established in 2006, the India-UAE JDCC has held 11 rounds before this meeting. 
  • The 12th JDCC meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen further India’s defence and security relations with the UAE, reinforcing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
