Context: Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a revision in the financial benefits under the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana, a marriage scheme for daughters of workers registered with the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

- CM Yogi Adityanath said: “Workers’ families form the backbone of society and it is govt’s humanitarian duty to support them. No worker’s daughter should face distress when beginning a new chapter in her life.”
- This enhanced assistance will directly benefit lakhs of worker families.
Changes in the Scheme:
- After the increase, beneficiaries will receive :

| Mass Marriage(minimum of 11 couples) | 85,000 | 65,000 |
- A separate amount of Rs 15,000 will be given for arrangements of the event.
About Kanya Vivah Sahayta Yojana:
- Objective: To provide financial assistance for marriageable daughters of beneficiary registered labourers and registered women construction labourers working in the building and other construction processes and to encourage legal arrangements like adult marriage to prevent illegal practices to control.
- Eligibility: Under this scheme, such updated registered construction workers who have completed at least 01 years (365 days) board membership period after registration can apply for the benefit.
- The benefit is limited subject to the limit of 2 children.
- The benefit of the scheme will be admissible after the daughter and the proposed bridegroom complete the prescribed age of 18 years and 21 years respectively.
