Context:
Recently as Informed by the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture implements a Central Sector scheme by the name of ‘Financial Assistance for Promotion of Guru-Shishya Parampara (Repertory Grant)’.
- This scheme provides financial Assistance for the Promotion of Guru-Shishya Parampara (Repertory Grant) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Culture.
- This scheme is a sub-scheme of an Umbrella scheme ‘Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY).
- It was introduced in 2003-04 to preserve the Guru-Shishya Parampara tradition and promoting talents in the field of music and drama and other art forms.
- It has been encouraging artists in the field of dance, music and theatre by providing financial assistance to shishyas of age 3 years and above.
- It provides financial assistance to 1 Guru and up to 18 Shishyas in theatre, and 1 Guru and up to 10 Shishyas in music and dance.
- Objective: The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to cultural organizations in performing arts (theatre, music, dance, etc.) for regular training of shishyas by their Guru, following the ancient Guru–Shishya Parampara.
Benefits
- To preserve and promote rare and vanishing art forms on Classical or Folk/Tribal so that the young talents are encouraged to acquire skills in their chosen field of art.
- The Nominated Guru Accompanist and four Shishyas will be appointed for one year on payment of the following grant.
- Each Guru/Director receives Rs. 15,000/- per month, while assistance for each Shishya/Artist is as follows:
