Recently, The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully completed flight tests of the Guided Pinaka Weapon System.
- It part of its Provisional Staff Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) Validation Trials.
- These tests were conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges.

Features:
- During the trials, the system’s key performance factors—such as range, accuracy, consistency, and rate of fire in salvo mode—were thoroughly tested using rockets.
- A total of 12 rockets were launched from each of the two upgraded Pinaka launchers, with an enhanced range of over 75km.
- Pinaka Rocket System :
- Pinaka Mk-I: Basic version with a 38 km range and different warhead types.
- Pinaka Mk-II: Enhanced version with a range of up to 60 km.
- Extended Range Pinaka: Latest upgrade capable of hitting targets up to 75 km away
 
- It is developed by several DRDO labs, in collaboration with production agencies like Munitions India Limited, Tata Advanced Systems, and Larsen & Toubro.
- The system is ready for induction into the Indian Army, due to its versatile capabilities make it suitable for a wide range of military applications, including counter-terrorism operations, border defense, and conventional warfare.
- It has already gained international recognition, with countries like Armenia placing orders, and numerous others expressing strong interest in acquiring the system.
