Context:
Recently, the Chief Minister of U.P , while presiding over a high-level review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Expressway Development Authority (UPEIDA), directed officials to expedite the construction and ensure the Ganga Expressway is completed by December 2025.
More in the News:
- Extensions of the Ganga Expressway: It covers the Meerut-Haridwar, Noida-Jewar, and Chitrakoot-Rewa Link Expressways, along with the planned Vindhya Expressway and Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway, connecting Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra.
- Establishment of skill development centres: It spans all nodes of the defence industrial corridor, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot.
- Infrastructure Development Along Expressways: Emphasis on developing industrial clusters and logistics parks with provisions for electricity and water supply, truck terminals, way stations, and health and emergency services.
- Industrial corridor : To be expanded along the Ganga Expressway in Bahadurgarh.
About Ganga Expressway

- Length: 594 km, Upon completion, it will become the longest expressway of Uttar Pradesh.
- Connectivity: It will start from village Bijoli in district Meerut and will terminate at JudapurDandu village in district Prayagraj.
- Design: The expressway will be of 06 lanes (expandable up to 08 lanes) and all the structures will be constructed of 08 lane width.
