Context:
Recently, the Quality Council of India (QCI) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) announced the launch of the Digi Ready Certification (DRC) portal.
About Digi Ready Certification (DRC) Portal:
Objective:
- To evaluate and certify the digital readiness of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) entities.
- To support the entry of retailers, sellers, and traders who have been covered under the MSME Act, 2006.
- To support the objectives of the recently launched FIRST (Forum for Internet Retailers, Sellers, and Traders).
- With the help of this portal, MSMEs can evaluate their preparedness to seamlessly sell on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform which expands their digital capabilities and business potential.
- This certification evaluates the process of digital readiness such as the presence of necessary documentation for online operations, proficiency in software technology, a digitalized workforce, and efficient management of orders.
About the Quality Council of India (QCI):
- It was established in 1997 jointly by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Indian industry.
- It is registered as a non-profit organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
Composition:
- It is governed by a Council of around 38 members with proper representation of governments, industries, and consumers.
- The Chairperson is appointed by the Prime Minister based on the recommendation of the industry to the government.
