The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur’s C3iHub has been upgraded to the status of a Technology Translational Research Park (TTRP) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

  • The TTRP at IIT Kanpur will focus on advancing cybersecurity technologies, nurturing deep-tech startups, and strengthening collaborations between industry and academia.
  • Following a comprehensive evaluation of IIT Kanpur’s proposal, the Mission Governing Board of the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) approved the upgradation of C3iHub to a TTRP in the key area of “Cybersecurity.”
  • The announcement was made during a review meeting by the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology.
  • The TTRP initiative is aimed at transforming research into market-ready solutions.
  • By upgrading existing Technology Innovation Hubs (TIHs) like C3iHub into TTRPs, the DST aims to strengthen collaboration among academia, industry, and startups.
  • The increased support will significantly boost efforts to transform advanced research into practical, market-ready solutions and reinforce our contribution to strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity infrastructure.
  • As a leading TIH under the NM-ICPS, C3iHub will remain focused on enhancing national security by safeguarding critical infrastructure, ensuring data privacy and integrity, monitoring emerging cyber threats, and more.
  • With support from DST under the NM-ICPS, C3iHub, as a TIH during the mission period from 2020 to 2024, has achieved significant milestones.
    • It successfully deployed over 15 technology products, supported 49 startups, and established 3 spokes and 50 spikes.
    • Notably, 60% of these startups have commercialized one or more products, while 25% of the R&D efforts have resulted in demonstrable technological solutions.
