Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has introduced the world’s first AI-generated avatar as its digital spokesperson, named – Victoria Shi.
The name “Victoria Shi” is a combination of the English word “victory” (win) and “shtuchniy intelekt,” the Ukrainian term for artificial intelligence.
• The AI spokeswoman has been created to deliver pre-pared official statements on behalf of the Ministry, and this is done using a visual avatar generated by AI. She will also provide updates on the country’s war with Russia.
• Shi was created by a team called The Game Changers who had previously made content related to the war in Ukraine.
• Shi’s tone and voice are modelled on Rosalie Nombre, a Ukrainian singer and TV celebrity, who agreed to the use of her voice and likeness free of charge.
• In order to combat issues like deepfake, Shi will be accompanied by a unique QR code linking her statements to the official text version on the Ministry’s website.
Objective
- The invention by Ukraine is expected to save time and resources for diplomats during the ongoing war with Russia and help them shift their focus to other tasks.
- The avatar’s creation demonstrates Ukraine’s embrace of cutting-edge technology in its foreign ministry’s operations.
