Context:
The central government has approved the establishment of a ₹417-crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Budh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh.

- This initiative aims to significantly enhance local electronics manufacturing and foster innovation in the region located in Sector 10 along the Yamuna Expressway.
- The project is expected to attract investments of approximately ₹2,500 crore and generate around 15,000 employment opportunities.
- It aligns closely with Prime Minister’s vision of strengthening domestic manufacturing and underscores the government’s strong commitment to job creation and the goal of building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
- The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) will be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) across 206.4 acres.
- The total project cost is ₹417 crore, excluding the cost of land.
- The Ministry of Electronics and IT will fund ₹144 crore as central financial assistance.
- The remaining funding will be borne by YEIDA and the project is slated for completion by January 2028.
- Key infrastructure to be developed includes:
- A skill development centre
- A convention centre
- A three-storey hostel block
- Additional support facilities to promote innovation and industry growth.
- Havells will serve as the anchor investor for the EMC 2.0 project, committing an investment of ₹800 crore.
- The company will be allocated 50 acres of land to set up manufacturing facilities for domestic appliances, including fans, air conditioners, coolers, lighting products, switchgear, cables, and more.
- EMC 2.0 will support the production of industrial electronics, medical devices, computer hardware, and communication equipment located along the Yamuna Expressway near the upcoming Jewar airport.
