  • Driver Licensing and Training:
    • Over 2.82 crore driving licenses have been issued to date, reflecting rising mobility and expanding access to regulatory services.
    • Uttar Pradesh has implemented a structured framework for driver training and licensing.
  • Infrastructure for Driver Training:
    • Automated Driving Testing Tracks (ADTTs) have been set up in Kanpur Nagar and Bareilly.
    • More than 3.7 lakh driving license tests have been conducted at these ADTTs.
    • Azamgarh and Pratapgarh ADTTs will soon be operational.
  • New Initiatives and Training Centers:
    • The Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Rae Bareli has been operational since April 2024.
    • 15 divisional districts are establishing Driving Training and Testing Institutes (DTTIs), with automation and simulators funded by Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s CSR.
    • Additional IDTRs are proposed for Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Agra, and other districts.
    • 15 districts, including Varanasi and Meerut, will receive Regional Driving Training Centres (RDTCs).
  • Funding for New Training Centers:
    • Each IDTR will receive ₹17.25 crore in funding from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
    • Each RDTC will receive ₹5 crore.
  • Accredited and Private Driving Schools.
    • Under the Accredited Driving Training Centre (ADTC) scheme, Letters of Intent have been issued in 86 districts, with 10 ADTCs already operational.
    • Additionally, 270 private motor driving schools are operational under the revised SOP (April 2023).
  • Road Safety Measures:
    • Road Accident Investigation Scheme introduced for accidents with three or more fatalities.
    • The state has increased its manpower with new ARTO and AMVI posts.
    • Transporters must submit monthly health certificates for drivers and comply with duty hour regulations.
  • Road Safety Education:
    • Road safety education is now part of the CBSE and ICSE syllabi.
    • Accessibility and Services:
    • 45 faceless transport services are available through Common Service Centres, benefiting both rural and urban applicants.
    • 400 POS machines have been distributed to field officers for real-time challan payments via debit cards and UPI.
