Context: Recently, India and Bangladesh conducted the 6th Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) and the 4th BONGOSAGOR exercise is being held from March 10 to March 12, 2025 in the Bay of Bengal.
- Naval participation:
- Bangladesh: BNS ABU UBAIDAH warship and a maritime patrol aircraft.
- India: INS RANVIR warship and a helicopter.

Objective
- The main aim is to combat maritime crimes, including illegal fishing, smuggling, human trafficking, piracy, and drug trafficking.
- Focus: Strengthen regional maritime security and improve coordination between the two countries’ navies.
- Both countries exchange information to identify and prevent illegal activities at sea.
- Enhance maritime security and contribute to the development of the maritime economy.
Exercises conducted:
- Joint patrols along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
- Maritime drills, including communication drills, surface gun-shoots, and tactical maneuvers.
- A Search and Rescue scenario during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) drills.
Impact of Regular Exercises
- These joint efforts have fostered stronger cooperation and mutual understanding between the Bangladesh and Indian navies.
