Lucknow University is celebrating its 104th Foundation Day and it is celebrated on November 25th each year.
- This marks the anniversary of the passing of the University of Lucknow Act (No. V of 1920), which received the assent of the Governor-General on November 25, 1920, officially establishing the University.
- Foundation Day celebrates the rich academic legacy, history, and contributions of Lucknow University to higher education in India.
- Year of Establishment: 1920
- The idea to establish a university in Lucknow was first proposed by Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan of Mahmudabad.
- The three colleges contributed to the establishment of the university were:
- King George’s Medical College (now King George’s Medical University)
- Canning College
- Isabella Thoburn College
