- The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the 71st National Film Awards across various categories at a ceremony held in New Delhi on September 23, 2025.
- On this occasion, she also conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2023 upon Shri Mohanlal in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
- In 2024, this honour was given to veteran Hindi film actor Mithun Chakraborty.
