Context:
Theunion home minister attended the 60th Raising Day Parade of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, as the Chief Guest.
More on News:
- BSF has a strength of around 2.65 lakh personnel and is tasked with guarding over 6,300 km of India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
- The Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) for securing India’s borders with Pakistan (2,289 km) and Bangladesh (4,096 km) is a work in progress.
About CIBMS:
- It has been designed to enhance situational awareness at various levels of command, enabling quick and effective responses to emerging situations along the India-Pakistan Border (IPB) and India-Bangladesh Border (IBB).
- CIBMS integrates manpower, sensors, networks, intelligence, and command control solutions to improve border security and operational efficiency.
About BSF:
- BSF is India’s First Line of Defence and the world’s largest border-guarding force.
- The BSF has 192 battalions (including 3 NDRF battalions) and 7 artillery regiments, protecting the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
- the BSF is involved in counterinsurgency operations in Kashmir and the North East, anti-Naxal operations in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, and securing Integrated check posts along the borders.
