- SJVN formerly known as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam received the ‘Achievement Award for Creating Social Development & Impact’ and ‘CIDC Partners in Progress Trophy’ for its CSR initiatives.
- These awards acknowledge SJVN’s commitment to positive change through innovative and sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
- Till date, SJVN Limited has spent more than ₹450 crores on a spectrum of CSR activities.
- The company has secured these prestigious awards for the third consecutive year.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR)
- It is a self-regulating business model that helps a company be socially accountable to itself, its stakeholders, and the public.
- The Companies Act, 2013, Section 135, requires certain companies to spend 2% of their average net profits over the past three years on CSR initiatives.
- This makes India the world’s largest mandatory CSR program.
CIDC Vishwakarma Awards
- The Vishwakarma awards are inspired by the spirit of construction and creation patronized by Lord Vishwakarma the ruling deity of the Construction practices in India
- These annual awards recognize outstanding achievements in India’s construction industry. They are celebrated on March 7th, the CIDC’s foundation day.
- 1st CIDC Vishwakarma Awards were given in 2009.
SJVN Limited
- SJVN Limited is a Mini Ratna, Category-I and Schedule – ‘A’ CPSE under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power.
- It was incorporated on May 24, 1988, as a joint venture of the Government of India (GOI) and the Government of Himachal Pradesh (GOHP).
- SJVN is now a listed Company having a shareholders pattern of 55.00% with Govt. of India, 26.85% with Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, and the rest of 18.15% with the Public.
Targets of SJVN
- SJVN aims to be a 5000 MW company by 2023-24, 25000 MW company by 2030 and 50000 MW company by 2040.

- The CIDC, has been set up jointly by the Planning Commission, the Government of India and the Indian construction industry.
